Our water sampling program has been designed to ensure that the water dispensed for residential or commercial clients is potable and ensure groundwater sampled is found to have chemicals that are below the established maximum permissible limit. Exceedance in sampling are reported upon receipt.

The collection of water samples will utilize the methodology stated in “Practices for the Collection and Handling of Drinking Water Samples, Version 2” issued April 1, 2009 by Laboratory Services Branch of the Ministry of Environment (MOE).  Results of the sampling will be compared to the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standards (ODWQS) or equivalent regulation.  The primary purpose of the Ontario Drinking Water Quality Standards, Objectives and Guidelines is to ensure water intended for human consumption shall not contain disease causing organisms or unsafe concentrations of toxic chemicals or radioactive substances.  Upon meeting the standards, guidelines or objectives, water deemed to be potable should also be considered aesthetically acceptable and palatable.

As such, our scope is to determine whether water being dispensed from potable drinking water sources meets the Aesthetic Objective (AO) or the Operational Guideline (OG), as an establish parameter of the ODWQS.  Standards for drinking water are expressed in terms of the Maximum Acceptable Concentration (MAC) or an Interim Maximum Acceptable Concentration (IMAC).  Where no MAC or IMAC exists, EMI will reference either the Canadian Drinking Water Quality Standards, Technical Support Documents for the respective parameter associated with ODWQS or the World Health Organization (WHO) limits.
